Job Description
commercetools is changing the way consumers engage digitally with brands. By use of a highly available microservice platform, and open source development patterns, commercetools is fundamentally enabling digitized shopping in the new distributed commerce era. By means of an extensive eCommerce API set, digital commerce processes and technologies are connected flexibly. For our Durham based tech office we are looking for a talented Software Developer in our new tech hub in downtown Durham, NC. Up for a new challenge in changing eCommerce? Here is your chance!
About your new role
  • Reporting to the Technical Director North America you will work on projects in different areas with focus on full-stack development
  • Independent handling of special IT projects
  • Developing extensions to the core product and integrating platform to external APIs and vendor interfaces
  • Supporting our US customers and partners
  • Supporting the Technical Director and our German Systems Engineers/DevOps team with admin and ops tasks (such as deployment automation, working on accounts, CDN, security, logs, etc.)
  • Helping to organize and conduct technical trainings to our partners
  • Supporting the architecture and estimation process for new projects

Skills & Requirements
  • At least three years of practical full-time development work experience
  • Knowledge of common programming languages (imperative and functional, preferred in JavaScript/Node.js/ES6)
  • Must have Linux and cloud computing experience
  • Fast learner with a quick perception who can understand the intricacies and challenges of a multi-tenant, API based e-commerce platform built on the newest technologies
  • Outstanding problem-solving ability and analytical skills
  • High hands-on & ‘get-it-done’ mentality
  • Aspiration to constantly improve yourself and learn new technologies and concepts
  • Very good English language skills
  • Team player with good communication skills, high reliability and a good dose of pragmatism
  • Authorized to work for any US employer & availability ASAP
Nice-to-have's:
  • Working experience with Java, ReactJS
  • Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Rackspace
  • Docker, CI/CD
  • NoSQL database (MongoDB)
